NEW HAVEN, Conn - Southern Connecticut State University interim women's track and field coach John Wallin has announced the team's 2011-12 schedule. The season opener will be on Dec. 3 at the Yale Lidifter Invitational.

The Owls will compete in two additional meets in the month of December – the Brother Jasper Invite (Dec. 9-10) and the James Barber/Wilton Wright Southern Connecticut Alumni Meet with New Haven  (Dec. 11).

SCSU will begin the 2012 calendar year with back-to-back meets at the UConn  Triangular on Jan. 7 at 10 a.m., followed by the Yale Season Opener on Jan. 14 at 9 a.m.

The Owls will then participate in the Great Dane Classic in New York City on Jan. 20 at 12 p.m., followed by the Metropolitan Championships on Jan 26-27.

The month of February kicks off with the Giegengack Invitational at Yale on Feb. 3-4. The Owls will then travel back to New York for a tri-meet against Manhattan and Fordham on Feb. 8 beginning at 12 p.m. Two days later, the Owls will travel to Boston for the Valentine Invitational at Boston Univ. on Feb. 10-11.

The championship portion of the season will then kick off beginning with the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. The following weekend, the Owls will participate in the New England Championships on Feb. 24-25.

SCSU will begin March with the IC4A Championships at Boston Univ. on March 3-4, followed by the NCAA Championships in Mankato, Minn. on March 9-10.

The outdoor season will kickoff on April 6-7 when the Owls travel to New Jersey for the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton and the Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo. The team will then participate in the SeaRay Relays at the Univ. of Tennessee from April 11-April 14, in addition to competing at the Metropolitan Championships on April 13-14.

The following weekend the Owls will compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 20-21, followed by the Roadrunner Express on April 22 at 9 a.m. Later that week, the Owls will travel to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays on April 26-28. On April 29, the Owls will travel back to New Haven for the Yale Springtime Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.

The month of May kicks off with the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on May 4-5, followed by the New England Outdoor Championships in Boston on May 10-12.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held from May 24-26 at CSU Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo.
