Titilayo Vanriel helped the Owls to a 9th place overall finish at the Metropolitan Championships today in Bronx, N.Y.
BRONX, N.Y. – Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) led the Southern Connecticut State University women's cross country team to a ninth place at the 2011 Metropolitan Cross Country Championships in Van Cortland Park with a 29th place time of 19:40. The Owls as team managed to place higher than four Division I schools: St. Francis, Seton Hall, St. Peter's and Fairleigh Dickinson.

Also competing for the Owls, Nicole Strauss (Shelton, Conn.) was 36th with a time of 19:52. Sophomore Chloe Ashcroft (Shelton, Conn.)  was 52nd, Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn.) was 64th and Kiara Bonilla (Bristol, Conn.) and Amanda Arcand (Vernon, Conn.) were 68th and 74th, respectively.

The Owls will be back in action Saturday Oct. 15 for the Connecticut College Invitational.
