Nicole Strauss helped the Owls to a fifth place finish overall at the 23rd Annual Blue Devil Invitational held today.

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Nicole Strauss (Shelton, Conn.) and Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn.), both returning members of the Southern Connecticut State University women's cross country team, led the team to a fifth place overall finish as it kicked off the 2011 campaign at the 23rd Annual Blue Devil Cross Country Invitational this afternoon. Strauss placed 19th with a time of 20:08, while Sullivan claimed 21st with a time of 20:23. The Owls competed against local schools such as UConn, Holly Cross and the University of New Haven.

Also competing for the Owls were captain Kelsey Proctor (Guilford, Conn.), Megan Carroll (Shelton, Conn.), Amanda Arcand (Vernon, Conn.), Kiara Bonilla (Bristol, Conn.)  and Stephanie Sulkowski (Guilford, Conn.).

The Owls will be back in action two weeks from tomorrow at the Division II Cross Country Challenge held in Kutztown, Pa.. scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
