NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University women's cross country coach Chris Covert has announced that junior Kelsey Proctor (Guilford, Conn.) will serve as team captain during the 2011 campaign. This will mark Proctor's second consecutive season in the role.

Last year, the Owls were ranked as high as No. 24 in the nation and No. 2 in the region and placed third at the NCAA Regionals. Previously, Proctor captured All-Northeast-10 Conference laurels during her freshman season with the Owls in 2009.

The Owls open the 2011 season on Sept. 2 at the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devil Invitational.
