Jason Polakowski was one of four Owls named to the Northeast-10 Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four members of the Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team – Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.), Jason Polakowski (Essex Junction, Vt.), Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) and Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) – have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team.

Jean-Baptiste follows up on his selection to the league's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team with a nod on the outdoor squad. During the outdoor campaign, he was a NCAA qualifier in the 4x400 relay and was All-Region in the 400 meters, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. He also collected All-New England honors in the 4x100 and 4x400 and was the New England runner-up as part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. He was also the Northeast-10 Conference champion as part of the 4x100 relay. Jean-Baptiste maintains a 3.44 cumulative grade point average.

Polakowski was an All-Region selection in the decathlon and finished seventh at the Northeast-10 Championships in the javelin for the Owls this spring. A selection to the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team, he carries a 3.52 cumulative grade point average.

Sharpe, who was also named to the league's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team, had a solid spring for the Owls in 2011. He was a NCAA qualifier in the 4x400 relay and was All-Region and All-New England in both the 4x400 relay and the 400 hurdles. Sharpe was also the New England runner-up in the 4x400 relay and the Northeast-10 Conference runner-up in the 400 hurdles. He carries a 3.45 cumulative grade point average.

Waszczak, who was also named to the league's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team and was also the Indoor Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award winner, capped his collegiate career with a fine outdoor campaign. He was a NCAA Qualifier and was All-Region and All-New England in the pole vault. The New England runner-up in the pole vault, Waszczak carries a 3.36 cumulative grade point average.

To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR).
