Four Owls Earn All-America Honors On Final Day Of NCAA Championships
TURLOCK, Calif. - Three members of the Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team -
Corey DeLaCruz (Alamagorado, N.M.),
Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) and
Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) - earned All-America honors in the 800 meters on the final day of the NCAA Championships on Saturday. DeLaCruz was edged for a national title by three-hundredths of a second. Perry placed fourth, while Lumax was right behind him in fifth. In addition,
Diwani Augustine (East Hartford, Conn.) collected All-America honors in the triple jump.
DeLaCruz finished with a time of 1:51.82. Perry crossed the line in 1:53.11, while Lumax posted a time of 1:54.01.
Augustine earned his second All-America honors of the championships with a seventh place mark in the triple jump. He leaped 49 feet, 7.75 inches. Augustine also took home All-America honors in the long jump earlier in the week.
Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) also competed in the pole vault for the Owls on Saturday, but did not clear a height.
