NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mustafa Abdur-Rahim, an assistant coach with the Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field program, has been named the East Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Abdur-Rahim is in his second season working with the SCSU sprinters and jumpers. At the Northeast-10 Championships, his athletes scored a total of 47 points in the jumps and two have earned entries to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Owls won the Northeast-10 indoor and outdoor championships and placed as high as third at the New England Championships.
