LOWELL, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track team won their 18th straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship collecting 221 points in the team ranking through 21 events today. The Owls truly showcased their dominance finishing in first or second in twelve events out of a possible 21 events. Diwani Augustine (East Hartford, Conn.) was named Athlete of the Meet and Coach John Wallin was named Coach of the Year.

Nana Ocran (Manchester, Conn.) claimed top honors in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.07. The 4x100 meter relay team of Ocran, Diwani Augustine (East Hartford, Conn.), Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) and Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.) claimed first and beat a previous meet record by one-hundredth of a second held by a previous Southern Connecticut team in 2008 with a time of 41.13. Jonathan Galli (Redding, Conn.) claimed first in the pole vault with a height cleared of 4.40 meters. Augustine took first in the triple jump with a leap of 14.52 meters. Akeem Elliott finished first in the long jump with a distance of 7.30 meters. Rounding out the field events, Nicholas Fedor (Bethany, Conn.) took first in the discus throw with a distance of 43.28 and A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) claimed the top spot surpassing the previous meet record of 55.01 meters with his own throw of 55.06 meters in the hammer throw.

The Owls took the top three spots in the pole vault with Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) and Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) joining Galli with a vault of 4.40 meters across the board.

The two teammates that have spent the entire season neck-and-neck to finish, Corey DeLaCruz (Alamogordo, N.M.) and Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) took second and third with times of 1:54.01 and 1:55.33, respectively.

Another top finish for the Owls, Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) claimed second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:53.19.

Casey Canada (Royal, Ark.) finished within the top four of two different events. In the 110 meter hurdles, he was third with a time of 15.42, while claiming a fourth place berth the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.52.

Jared Dixon (Middle Village, N.Y.) took second in the high jump tying the first place athlete at 2.00 meters.

Enis Bukalo (Deryb, Conn.) took second in the shot put with a range of 15.70 meters, while Shawneil Thompson (Mystic, Conn.) claimed third with a toss of 14.01 meters.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend as they prepare for the New England Championships held on the Southern Connecticut State University campus May 13-15.
