Logan Sharpe ranks among the nation's best in both the 4x400 meter relay and the 400 meter hurdles.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team has several members that rank among the best in the nation on the NCAA Division II national leader board. New this week to the leader board, Jared Dixon claims the seventh best high jump in the nation with a height cleared of 2.12 meters achieved on May 1st at the Yale Spring Invitational. Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) is No. 15 in the 400 meter hurdles for his time of 52.81 achieved on May 1st at the Yale Springtime Invite. Casey Canada (Royal, Ark.) adds his name to the national leader board in the 31st spot with a time of 53.62 in the 400 meter hurdles on May 1st at the Yale Invite.

The Owls hold three of the top ten fastest times in the 800 meter run this year. Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) holds fifth place with a time of 1:51.21 achieved at the Larry Ellis Friday Night Races held on the campus of Princeton on Apr. 22. Corey DeLaCruz (Alamogordo, N.M.) trails just a few tenths of a second behind his teammate in sixth with a time of 1:51.41 ran at the UConn Alumni Invitational on Apr. 7. Josh Perry (Nagatuck, Conn.) ran his best time of the year at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Apr. 22 and holds the 13th spot with time of 1:52.14.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Sharpe, Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Hartford, Conn.), Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Lumax ran the 12th fastest time in the nation at the Larry Ellis Invite on Apr. 23. Their time was 3:12.11.

Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) continues his dominance with a height cleared of 4.95 meters in the pole vault at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Apr. 23. With this result, he claims the 12th best vault in the nation.

Senior Diwani Augustine (East Hartford, Conn.) holds the 20th best leap in the nation in the triple jump with a distance of 14.63 meters achieved at the Yale Springtime Invite on May 1. He also claims the 23rd best long jump with a distance of 7.15 meters achieved at the same meet.

A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) claims the 20th best hammer toss in the nation as just a freshman. His heave of 56.83 meters executed at the Sam Howell Invite on Apr. 2.

Omar Gonzalez (Bristol, Conn.) has the 23rd best javelin throw achieved at the UConn Alumni Invite on Apr. 7. His meteor landed 59.21 meters away from its start.

The Owls will be back in action May 6-7 for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
