Casey Canada claimed first in the 110 meter hurdles at the Yale Springtime Invite.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team were dominant today at the Yale Springtime Invitational. The Owls managed to place athletes in first in seven different events. Leading the way, Diwani Augustine (East Hartford, Conn.) placed first in the long jump with a distance of 7.15 meters and first in the triple jump with a leap of 14.63 meters.

Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) took first in the pole vault with a height cleared of 4.80 meters. He currently holds the 10th best vault in all of Division II with a height of 4.95 achieved at the Larry Ellis Invite on Apr. 23. Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) claimed third with a vault of 4.50 meters.

Jared Dixon (Middle Village, N.Y.) claimed first in the high jump with an elevation of 2.12 meters.

Casey Canada continues to finish nothing but first in the 110 meter hurdles this season with a time of 14.74. He also finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.62.

Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) was first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.81.

The Owls claimed three of the top four spots in the 400 meter dash with Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) taking the top spot with a time of 48.67, while Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Rudolph Cowan (Hartford, Conn.) were third and fourth with times of 49.37 and 50.40, respectively. Jean-Baptiste also took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.81.

Southern Connecticut finished second, fourth and fifth in the 100 meter dash. Augustine was second with a time of 10.65, while Nana Ocran (Manchester, Conn.) and Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.) rounded out the top five with times of 10.85 and 10.92, respectively.

Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) claimed third in the shot put with a toss of 15.39 meters.

Akeem Elliott (Greater Portmore, Jamaica) was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.71 meters and sixth in the triple jump with a range of 13.29 meters.

The Owls prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships May 6-7.
