NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field team were dominant today at the Yale Springtime Invitational with six athletes in the top spot of their respective event.
Courtni Walker (Uniondale, N.Y.) took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.59 meters, while
Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.13. The 4x400 meter relay continues to run well with the team consisting of
Daira Veloz,
Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.),
Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) and
Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) claiming first place with a time of 3:53.02.
Other strong finishers include
Sasha Saylor (Hartford, Conn.) in fifth place of the triple jump with a distance of 10.77 meters.
Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) was second in the pole vault with a height cleared of 3.55 meters.
Brown also matched the top mark in the high jump to take second place at 1.65 meters.
The 4x100 meter relay team captured second place honors with a time of 47.30 . Sahnique Castella (Hartford, Conn.), Hill, Walker, and Brown were members of the team.
Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.) finished fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.36.
Castelle also finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.46.
Junior
Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) took third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.53.
