MAHWAH, N.J. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor 4x100 meter relay team broke the school record for the event and posted the 14th best time in all of Division II, with a time of 46.55, yesterday at the Rampao Roadrunner Express Meet held in Mahwah, N.J. The team consisted of Sahnique Castella (Hartford, Conn.), Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.), Courtni Walker (Uniondale, N.Y.), and Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.).

Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) had the fastest time in the region this year in the 1500 meters and claimed first place with a time of 4:38.86. Her time was also a personal best.

Bell claimed first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.21, while Castella took third with a time of 12.59. Bell also took first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.53.

Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.54, while taking eighth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.73.

Titilayo Vanriel held second place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.50.

Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn.) finished second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:55.10. This is also her person best.

Walker finished first in the long jump with a distance of 5.42 meters.

Daira Veloz claimed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.28.

Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.) finished first in the discus throw with a toss of 37.63 meters and second in the hammer throw with a heave of 51.25 meters.

Aubrey Dowding (Warwick, R.I.) had a personal best throw of 37.55 meters and placed ninth in the hammer throw.

The Owls will be back in action next Sunday at the Yale Springtime Invitational on May 1st.
