Alasia Griebel was one of four Owls to earn Northeast-10 Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team honors.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four members of the Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team - juniors Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomores Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) and Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn.) - have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team. The Owls' four selections were tied for the most among any team in the conference.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.

Bell collected both All-Region and All-New England honors in both the 60 and 200 meters. She finished third at the NE-10 Championships in both events.

Griebel earns conference All-Academic honors for the second time this year, as she was tabbed to the NE-10 Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team back in the fall. A NCAA qualifier as part of the distance medley relay, Griebel was also an All-Region and All-New England selection in both the mile and the distance medley relay. She was also the Northeast-10 Champion in both events.

Johnson continued her dominance in the pole vault, as she collected All-American, All-Region and All-New England honors in the event. The 2011 USTFCCCA Regional Field Athlete of the Year, Johnson was also the Northeast-10 Conference champion in the pole vault.

Sullivan was a 2011 NCAA qualifier in the distance medley relay and also collected All-Region and All-New England honors in that event. She was also a part of the Northeast-10 Champion DMR unit.

Bell is a mathematics major with a 3.59 grade point average. Griebel is a psychology major with a 3.84 grade point average. Johnson is an exercise science major with a 3.72 grade point average. Sullivan is an exercise science major with a 3.84 grade point average.
