NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Amanda Thomas (Oakville, Conn.) of the women's swimming and diving team and junior Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) of the men's indoor track and field team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for March.

Thomas had a magical month of March that was highlighted by a NCAA Championship in the 200 individual medley at the National Championships. In all, Thomas collected All-America honors in four different events – 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly – and also finished as the national runner-up in the 400 IM and 200 fly. Her time in the 400 IM actually broke the previous NCAA standard in that event. Thomas captured the 72nd individual NCAA title in Southern Connecticut State University history.

Lumax earned Athlete of the Month honors for the second consecutive month after collecting All-America honors in three different events – 800 meters, distance medley relay and the 4x400 relay – at the NCAA Championships. Lumax also earned All-Region honors in all three events and was All-New England in the 4x400 relay and 800 meters.

For the third consecutive year, Comcast is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Month' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Month' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each month for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
