Day One Results

ALBURQUERQUE, N.M.  – Members of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team traveled to the NCAA Division II Championships held in Albuquerque, N.M. for day one action today.  The distance medley relay of Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.), Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.), Corey DeLaCruz (Alamogordo, N.M.) and Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) took eighth place with a time of 10:25.54 to earn All-America honors.

Lumax and Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished seventh and eighth in the 800 meter run to qualify for the finals to be held on Saturday. Their times were 1:55.85 and 1:55.89, respectively. 

Ryan Whitehead (Darien, Conn.) is competing in the heptathlon which is seven events over the course of two days.  He finished third in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 10 inches.  He placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, eight inches.  He also finished 11th in the high jump and 12th the 60 meter dash.  He will compete in the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, and the 1000 meter run on Saturday.

Day two action continues on Saturday.
