Selasi Lumax is the top qualifier in the 800 meter run for the NCAA Championships.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's track and field team will send seven student athletes to the NCAA Division II Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, scheduled for March 11-12. Leading the charge for the Owls, Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) holds the top seed in the nation for the 800 meter run with a time of 1:49.47 achieved at the New England Championship.

Joining Lumax in the 800 meter run, Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) received the fourth seed with a time of 1:50.97 ran at the New England Championships, while Corey DeLaCruz (Alamagorado, N.M.) will be  the ninth seed with a time of 1:52.06.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.), Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.), Nana Ocran (Manchester, Conn.), and Lumax were selected for the fifth seed with a time of 3:13.62. This time was achieved at the New England Championship.

The distance medley relay team consisting of DeLaCruz, Lumax, and Perry will run as the third seed with a time of 9:51.51 achieved during the New England Championship.

Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) will be the lone field athlete from the Owls to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championship in the pole vault with a height cleared of 4.95 achieved at the 2011 Yale Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 15.
