Sophomore Kimberly Johnson ranks 10th among the NCAA Division II leaders in the pole vault.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team continues to be well-represented among the NCAA Division II leaders through meets completed this past weekend.

The Owls improved on the NCAA Division II national leader board in the 200 meters and the 4x400 relay this weekend at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

Junior Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) ran a 24.84 in the 200 meters to rank 12th in the nation at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. At the same meet, sophomore Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) joined her fellow teammate on the national leader board in 29th with a time of 8.93 in the 60 meter high hurdles.

Brown dropped to 12th in Division II, improving her previous best in the high jump by one inch to five feet, seven inches at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet.

The distance medley relay team of Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn), Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.), Titlayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) and Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) is now 13th in their event thanks to a time of 11:59.71 at the Valentine Invitational.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Shaina Barr (Manchester, Conn.), Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.), Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.), and Niemczyk posted a 17th best time of 3:51.31 at the Valentine Invitational.

Vanriel posted a time of 2.14.34 in the 800 meter dash, but dropped to 12th rank in the nation. Her time was achieved at the Valentine Invitational.

Sophomore Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.) ranks 30th this week in the 400 meter thanks to a time of 57.44 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

Senior Courtni Walker (Uniondale, N.Y.) ranks among the top NCAA division II athletes in both the long jump and 60 meter dash. Her jump of 18 feet, six inches, achieved at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet, remains 19th in the Division II. With a time of 7.69, Walker is ranked 20th in the 60 meter dash with her performance at the Harvard Season Opener.

Sophomore Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) ranks 10th among the NCAA Division II leaders in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, 11.75 inches performed at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships.

All marks meet NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standards.

SCSU is back in action this Friday when it travels to Boston, Mass. for the New England Championships. The event is scheduled to start at 12 p.m and run into the following day.
