BOSTON - The Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team continued its reign of dominance within the Northeast-10 Conference on Thursday. The Owls captured their ninth straight NE-10 indoor championship and 17th overall NE-10 track and field title, which also encompasses the eight straight outdoor crowns.

Leading the charge for the Owls were several student athletes that placed first in their respective event.

Nicholas Fedor (Bethany, Conn.) and #A.J. Guerra# (Stafford Springs, Conn.) claimed the top two spots with throws of 17.40 meters and 17.27 meters, respectively.  In the 1000 meters, Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) posted a time of 2:29.43 to take first.

Senior Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) finished first in the pole vault with a height of 4.70 meters, while freshman Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) finished in a close second with a height of 4.55 meter.

Senior Nana Ocran (Manchester, Conn.) took first in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.43.

The Southern Connecticut state University 4x400 team finished just six-hundredths of a second off the lead in second with a time of 3:21.  The team consisted of Ocran, Rudolph Cowan (Hartford, Conn.), Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.).

Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) claimed a second place finish in the 500 meters less than six-tenths off a second behind the leader with a time of 1.04.82.

Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.) took second in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:41.90.

What's next for the Owls? The men's track and field team continues to the New England Championships held on Feb. 25-26.
