NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team continues to be well-represented among the NCAA Division II leaders through meets completed this past weekend.

The Owls moved up the NCAA Division II national leader board in the distance medley relay, 800 meter dash, 4x400 relay, and the 400 meter dash at the 2011 Boston University Valentine Invitational held Saturday.

The distance medley relay team of Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn), Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.), Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) and Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) is now 11th in their event thanks to a time of 11:59.71 at the Valentine Invitational.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Shaina Barr (Manchester, Conn.), Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.), Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.), and Niemczyk posted a 13th best time of 3:51.31 at the Valentine Invitational.

Vanriel posted a time of 2.14.34 in the 800 meter dash to claim a 10th rank in the nation.

Sophomore Sarah Hill (Rockville, Conn.) ranks 27th this week in the 400 meters thanks to a time of 57.44 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

Senior Courtni Walker (Uniondale, N.Y.) ranks among the top NCAA Division II athletes in both the long jump and 60 meter dash. Her jump of 18 feet, six inches, achieved at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet, ranks 19th in Division II. With a time of 7.69, Walker is ranked 18th in the 60 meter dash with her performance at the Harvard Season Opener.

Sophomore Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) remains ninth in Division II, improving her previous best in the high jump by one inch to five feet, seven inches at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet.

Sophomore Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) ranks 10th among the NCAA Division II leaders in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, 11.75 inches performed at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships.

All marks meet NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standards.

SCSU is back in action this Thursday when it travels to Boston, Mass. for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The event is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
