Nelson Laskoski was named Freshman Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team has been named Men's Field Rookie of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference. With this selection, Laskoski claims back-to-back field Rookie of the Week honors. Joining Laskoski with weekly honor roll selections were teammates Corey DeLaCruz (Alamagordo, N.M.), Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.), Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) and Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.).

Laskoski cleared a height of 15 feet, three inches at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet on his way to a second place finish in the pole vault.

DeLaCruz helped the distance medley relay team break a school record and finish second in their event with a time of 9:51.51 at the Valentine Invitational. On day two of the event, Cruz placed 16th in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.82, good enough to rank sixth amongst Division II student athletes.

Fallo was the top finishing student-athlete in the long jump with a distance of 23 feet, 4.5 inches this past Wednesday at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet. With the finish, Fallo is ranked 11th on the NCAA Division II national leader board.

Lumax was part of the distance medley relay that ran a 9:51.51, breaking a school record, finishing second in the event, and ranking second on the NCAA Division II national leader board. He also ran a leg of the 4x400 team placing third with a time of 3:13.62, which ranks his team ninth nationally.

Sharpe was a two event threat this past week with top finishes in both the 400 meter dash and the 4x400 meter relay at day two of the Valentine Invitational. He finished 10th in the 400 meters with a time of 48.35, and ran a leg of the 4x400 relay that claimed third place with a time of 3:13.62.

The Owls will be back in action this Thursday for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
