Titilayo Vanriel was among the Owls who collected weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team claimed three of the top four weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for its performance at both the Valentine Invitational and the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet.

Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) was selected as the Track Athlete of the week. She helped her team to an eighth place finish in the distance medley relay with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 11:59.71 achieved at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. She also competed in the 4x400 with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark time of 3:51.31 to take fourth.

Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) took home Field Athlete of the Week honors for two first place finishes at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet in the high jump and the 55 meter high hurdles. Her high jump of five feet, seven inches was a NCAA provisional mark, while her time of 8.05 seconds in the 55 meter high hurdles ranks her ninth in the nation.

Freshman Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) achieved Track Rookie of the Week honors with a 2:14.34, 18th place finish, which was good enough to rank eighth on the NCAA Division II national leader board in the 800 meter run. Her time was achieved at the Valentine Invitational. In the distance medley relay, Vanriel helped her team to an eighth place finish with a time of 11:59.71 to rank 11th nationally.

Joining her fellow teammates, Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) was selected to the weekly honor roll. Johnson finished first in the pole vault this past Wednesday at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet with a height of 11 feet, 11 inches to meet an NCAA provisional mark.

The Owls will be back in action this Thursday for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
