BOSTON - The distance medley relay tandem of Corey DeLaCruz, Richard Jackson (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) and Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished second in that event for the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team at the Valentine's Invitational on Friday. Their time of 9:51.51 was the second fastest time in Division II this year and was just .31 seconds from a NCAA automatic qualifying mark. Nevertheless, the quartet highlighted day one of the competition on the men's side.

The DMR was the only men's event that took place on Friday, with the rest occurring on Saturday. In finishing second, the Owls were ahead of several notable Division I programs, including North Carolina State and Providence.

Day two action begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
