Two Owls Named To Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Ryan Whitehead (Darien, Conn.) and freshman
A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll. Both student-athletes helped the Owls take home first place at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships held this past weekend.
Whitehead set a new school record in the heptathlon with a second place finish. His score of 4,880 points was a NCAA provisional qualifier mark. Whitehead ranks fifth on the NCAA Division II leader board for heptathlon and seventh for the pole vault following a leap of 15 feet, 11 inches reached at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships.
Guerra captured the weight throw at the Metropolitan Indoor Championship with a throw of 16.92 meters.
The Owls are back in action this weekend when they head to the Gigengack Invitational at Yale.
