NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team has 10 student-athletes ranked among the NCAA Division II leaders in their respective events.

The Owls newest additional to this week's NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track leaders is junior Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.). Fallo ranks 10th in the long jump after a second place finish, at the Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet on Wednesday, with a distance of 23 feet, 4.5 inches.

Senior Ryan Whitehead (Darien, Conn.) continued to rank in two categories with a heptathlon score of 4,880 points and a pole vault height of 15 feet, 11 inches achieved at the Metropolitan Indoor Championship. Whitehead fell to fifth and eighth, respectively, in the national rankings.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Richard Jackson (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Nana Ocran (Manchester, Conn.), Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) and Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) holds the 5th best school time in Division II thanks to a run of 3:17.39 at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships.

Junior Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) remains in sixth this week after posting a time of 1:53.54 at the Albany Great Dane Classic.

Senior Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) dropped one spot to fourth in the pole vault. He ranked first in the nation three weeks ago following a leap of 16 feet, 2.75 inches at the Yale Collegiate Invitational. In all, the Owls have two of the top eight pole vaulting marks with Waszczak and Whitehead.

Jared Dixon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is now 13th in the high jump after his leap of 6 feet, 9.75 inches at the SCSU Alumni Meet with New Haven.

All of the marks meet NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standards.

SCSU is back in action this weekend when it travels to Boston, Mass. for the Valetine's Invitational at Boston University.
