Samantha Spindel placed sixth at the Gigengack Invitational on Friday.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. –The Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field team sent individuals to the Gigengack Invitational held at Yale on Friday. Junior Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.) and sophomore Julianna Williamson (Milford, Conn.) finished sixth and seventh in the weight throw with distances of 46 feet, 5.5 inches and 45 feet, 7.75 inches, respectively.

Freshman Aubrey Dowding (Warwick, R.I.) finished 10th in the weight throw with a toss of 40 feet, 3.25 inches.

With a distance of 15 feet, 11 inches, freshman Tanyae White finished 13th in the long jump.

Three individuals from the Women's track and field team finished within the top 32 in the Women's 200 meter dash. Freshman Daira Veloz finished 21st with a time of 27.28, while freshman Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.) placed 22nd with a time of 27.30 and freshman Emily Tooker (Eastport, N.Y.) scored 32nd with time of 28.13,

The women's track and field team is back in action tomorrow for Day two of the Gigengack Invitational at Yale.
