Nicole Strauss and the Owls fared well on Saturday.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team placed several individuals within the top 10 in four different events at the Gigengack Invitational on Saturday at Yale. Sophomore Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, 10 inches, while senior Alicia Gray (Colchester, Conn.) finished sixth with a vault of 10 feet, 4 inches.

Junior Alasia Griebel (Bristol, Conn.) placed eighth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:58.35.

Freshman Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.) ran a 500 meter time of 1:18.17 to place eighth.

Freshman Tanyae White (Southington, Conn.) cleared a distance of 15 feet, 11 inches in the long jump to finish 13th. 

The 4x400 meter relay team placed 11th with a time of 4:05.22. 

Freshman teammates Daira Veloz and Emily Tooker (Eastport, N.Y.), competed in the 400 meter dash. They recorded times of 59.96 and 1:01.80 to place 14th and 21st, respectively.
 
In the 3000 meter run, freshman Nicole Strauss (Shelton, Conn.) finished in 26th with a time of 10:59.62. 

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday at Manhattan/Fordham Tri-Meet in Manhattan, N.Y,. scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
