Connecticut's Top Runners

Again, with last year's action being greatly curtailed, a clear picture for the upcoming XC season is hard to assemble. We'll just offer up a listing of a few of the top runners who merit special watching.

Anna Keeley (Fairfield Ludlowe). The Falcon senior is the top returning runner from last year's FCIAC championship and she had a gorgeous track season highlighted by a Class LL win in the 1600m and a 3rd at the Open.

Katherine Sanderson and Nora Holmes (Hall). The Warrior senior duo give Hall a big boost at the top of the lineup and have among the top times for returning runners this year after leading Hall to 2nd place in the CCC-A division last year.

Olivia Birney (Simsbury). The Trojan senior took the 800m-1600m double last June in both Class L and the Open, and in the fall she led Simsbury to the CCC - A division title.

Claire Daniels and Madelaine Sweeney (New Milford). The Green Wave senior duo had strong marks both in XC and track last year and now lead a team that should be vying for the Class L title.

Ava Graham (Bethel). The Wildcat senior is the top returner from last year's SWC championship and she will lead the team's campaign for conference and Class MM titles. She's also the top returning runner from the 2019 Open with a 4th place finish.

Emily Mrakovcic (Wilton). The Warrior senior was one of three runners to break 15:00 while winning the FCIAC Central division race last year and then was 2nd in the Class L 800m last June before placing 3rd in the Open.

Kali Holden (Trumbull). The Eagle senior led Trumbull to the FCIAC East division title last fall then placed 4th in the 1600m at the Open in June.
