CIAC Class Championships Recap

Class LL Girls

Highlights:

Alanna Smith was seeking a triple in the sprints and almost got it, but the legs weren't quite there in the 400m as Riley Powers powered to the finish a little less than a second in front of Smith. Ally McCarthy won a tremendous battle in the 800m by .04 seconds over Glastonbury's Jacqueline Caron, and Anna Keeley fended off Mari Noble in the 1600, while Noble did the same to Southington's Grace Michaud in the 3200m. Erin Daugherty in the 100H and Nyia White in the 300H both took comfortable wins. Both Smith in the 200 and Keeley in the 1600 set meet records.

4th seed Southington came up big in 4x100m with a sub 50 relay, the 4x400m favorites Newtown closed down the track action by knocking more than 3 seconds off its season's best, and Glastonbury dominated again in the 4x800m.

In the field events, Mallory Malz got an awesome triple in the pole vault and long and triple jumps, while Tia Stapleton won a jump off with Greenwich's Tabitha Cook. Tianna Rogers, Caitlyn Filloramo, and Kayla Pelletier split the throws.
