On Saturday, during a cold wet East Coast Championships meet at Holmdel Park in New Jersey, Kate Wiser of Pomperaug High (CT) ran to No. 3 all-time clocking 17:25.9 to win the Gold Division race and overall individual title.
"This is my last high school cross country race," Wiser stated after her win, "so I definitely wanted to come out and run a good race."
Wiser took on strong competition head to head in that race including second place Charlotte Bednar, running 17:46.7, and third place Sydney Masciarelli, with 17:59. Just a week and a half prior Bednar moved up to No. 2 all-time on the course with a 17:21 victory at the Holmdel Invitational.
