New York Boys State Rankings - Final

End of Season Following Nationals
The final end of the year XC rankings expand to 50 slots for Class A, 40 for Class B and Class C, and 25 for Class D, recognizing the big efforts made by teams at Sectionals and Conference championships and in the States and Federation meets for a select few. Except for maybe seven teams competing fairly near their top season's level at NXR-NY, the placements at regionals do not enter into the tabulations here since the rest of the 26 teams there were running well below the usual pace (speed ratings ranged from 180 for the top squad to 126 for the 26th) they exerted when they were competing for a title. Teams are judged on their top performances, not on their final relaxed revelries at NXR-NY.

In a bit of a deja vu year for NY XC, Fayetteville-Manlius again led the guys teams throughout the season and came away with States and NXR-NY wins and an 11th place at Nationals. Burnt Hill maintained control of Class B, though by a smaller margin over Pittsford Mendon and Mount Academy, and again captured the second berth for NXN. The no-seniors-allowed Saranac Lake (that will change next year) dominated Class C for a second year and got set for a Nationals-or-Bust campaign in 2020. Beaver River for a third straight year was the overlord of Class D on the way to an 18th States title, and the Beavers should be among the top teams at NXR-NY next year, though they were nicer to seniors than the Red Storm and allowed #3 guy Josiah Evan into the varsity club.  2020 NY XC should have a lot of familiar elements mixed in with a lot of crazy new stuff.
