Girls Team Overview
Wrap-up
There's a first time for everything, including victories in a CIAC Open championship, and William
Hall completed the quest for its first title in commanding fashion. A year after 1 point was the difference between 1st and 2nd for Danbury and Immaculate, Hall used its two packs of three runners to outdistance Simsbury by 26 points. The Warriors' Jenna Zydanowicz, Nora Holmes, and Katherine Sanderson all finished within the top 13 team places and Hall had Mia Healer, Rose Kitz, and Natalie Schaumburger close enough in to take the win with 110 points. With Zydanowicz back on the lead, Hall soared to a 103 speed rating with an average time 6 seconds better than in the LL Division race six days before.
Simsbury also ran faster at the Open to push its speed rating up to 98. The Trojans were led by Amanda Derway in 8th place as they were 2nd in the Open after also finishing 2nd behind New Canaan in the Division L race. Trumbull with Allesandra Zaffina on the lead in 9th followed up its 2nd place finish in the Division LL race with a 3rd in the Open. New Canaan was 4th and 2018 Open winner Danbury placed 5th.
