Great conditions and great times marked the day at the CIAC Open as a mixture of the expected and the surprising played out. In the first race, Mari Noble outran the highly ranked national standout Kate Wiser for the girl's crown, and William Hall as expected fought its way to the Warriors' first Open title. Later, Gavin Sherry outlasted Robbie Cozean to win the guy's title, but his Conard team was beat out for the team title by 3rd place finisher Alec Sauter's Tolland squad.
Top teams and runners will be moving on to the New England Championship next Saturday, and it will also be held at Manchester's Wickham Park.
