New York Girls State Rankings - Week 7

Following Week of Saturday, October 26

Week 7 rankings pulled in results from a ton of meets huge and small. None was bigger than Section 2's Suburban Council meet that featured five of the top 15 NY teams and which saw Saratoga power its way to a dominating win with a speed rating not far behind the state's #1 team Fayetteville-Manlius. Class B leader East Aurora also had an explosive showing at the ECIC championship and pushed itself into the #3 spot in the state. And as Halloween rolled around the 6th ranked Witches of Greenwich were sweeping up another win at Wasaren and showing that a Class C team can fly with any squad in the state.

Other big meets included the OCIAA where Monroe-Woodbury edged out Cornwall, Westchester County where Ursuline outran John Jay-Cross River, Northern County where Arlington topped Carmel, Monroe County where Brighton knocked off a host of Section 5 teams, the NY-BQ CHSAA and NSCHSAA championships where Notre Dame and Sacred Heart were tops, and the Bernard Adirondack where Cicero-North Syracuse and Camden had wins.

This week just six days after the Suburban Council meet, Section 2 kicks off the state qualifier season on Friday, November 1st, and Section 5 and Section 8 follow on Saturday.  The NYSAIS again holds its championship on Marathon Sunday in Van Cortlandt Park.
