Throughout the week, CT MileSplit will feature some of the top athletes that will be competing at the New Balance National Indoor Championships this weekend (March 13-15).
We begin the series with distance ace
Alex Ostberg, Darien
Alex is scheduled to compete in the two mile run and as a member of the school's distance medley relay. In both events, the gifted senior has a great chance to medal. Alex is one of the top seeds in the two mile. He won the event at the recent New England Championships where he recorded a nation No. 1 and PR of 9 minutes, 0.58 seconds. Alex is the defending outdoor national titlist for 5K and knows how to perform in the big meets. He will face a talented field that features Virginia's Andrew Hunter of Loudoun Valley, who owns the fastest clocking for 3,200m this season with time of 8:59.67. Hunter was also second last year at the outdoor nationals where he ran 8:53.61. New York's Conor Lundy of Fordham Prep should also push the pace. He won the 3K at the Yale Track Classic a few months ago with a US #1 of 8:26.55.
