There should be a great battle in the boys distance events between Windham's Alexander Korczynski and Timothy Lautenbach of Weston. Both have already qualified for New Balance Indoor Nationals and the two times they have faced each other this season have both come down to the wire. Michael Browning of RHAM is the state leader in the shot put with a throw of 59'6.5 from the East Coach Invitational in mid January which is currently 14th in the country,
On the girls side, Elizabeth Stockman of Rocky Hill is the state leader in the 1600m, 3000m and 3200m. Hopefully she will match up with Weston's Kathleen Murphy who is the state leader in the mile with a 5:05, to Stockman's 5:07 1600m. This could race could give out bragging rights for the best female miler in Connecticut.
Hillhouse's coaches Gary and Michelle Moore will be excited if both teams manage to sweep both championships. But there will be an extra satisfaction at home if their oldest daughter, Leah, is also able to earn her first state championship. The freshman is the top seed in the shot with a throw of 37'7.75 and is one of the favorites.
Below are the projected team scores and top seeds based on each team's season best performances from the Milesplit database.
