Men's Meet Results

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 8 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team extended their dominance with a 19th straight Northeast-10 indoor and outdoor title with a first place finish at the at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships held today in Boston, Mass. The Owls placed a student-athlete in the top-5 of 15 out of a possible 19 events including a first place finish in six to score a of 164.50 total points. Head coach, John Wallin, was named Coach of the Year by the Northeast-10 Conference for his effort throughout the season.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.), Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.), Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.), and Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) claimed a new meet record by well over six seconds en route to a first place finish with a time of 7:43.32.

Robbins claimed the top spot in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.01.

In the 1,000 meters, Perry broke the meet record and the school record en route to a first place finish. He managed a time of 2:25.17. The previous meet record was held by Macky Llyod of College of St. Rose set back in 2010 and the school record was held by Mike Lewis set in 1987.

With a first place finish Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.), led two Owls in the pole vault with a height cleared of 4.6 meters, while Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) was second with a vault of 4.15 meters.

Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) reached a NCAA provisional mark and led one of two Owls in the top-2 of the shot put with a heave of 15.80 meters. With a toss of 14.30 meters, Michael Cameron (Hartford, Conn.) finished in second overall.

Nicholas Fedor (Bethany, Conn.) was first in the weight throw with a distance of 16.77 meters and managed a NCAA provisional mark. A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) and Cameron rounded out the top-5 for the Owls with second and fourth place and throws of 16.45 meters and 15.78 meters, respectively.

Lumax and Sharpe managed second and third place in the 500 meters with times of 1:03.51 and 1:03.93, respectively. Both student athletes received NCAA provisional marks.

Brian Nill (Ridge, N.Y.) claimed third in the mile run with a time of 4:14.12.

Joseph Poulsen was fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:17.42.

Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) finished third in the 55 hurdles with a time of 7.88 and reached a NCAA Provisional mark, while Nick Lebron as fifth with a time of 7:97.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Daniel Candelaria (New Haven, Conn.), Thomas Phommalinh (New Britain, Conn.), and Stenson Jean-Baptiste finished third with a time of 3:23.04 and reached a NCAA provisional mark.

The distance medley relay team of Poulsen, Fred Boateng (Hamden, Conn.), Samuel Montclair (Cheshire, Conn.) and Nill were third with a time of 10:29.04.

Akeem Elliott (Greater Portmore, Jamaica) managed a NCAA provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.96 meters. He finished in fourth place. He also finished second in the triple jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 14.0 meters.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend for the New England Championships to be held on Feb. 24-25 in Boston, Mass.
