Hillhouse takes aim at another SCC title

NEW HAVEN — With such standouts as Kellie Davis, Precious Holmes and Brianna Sims, it would be easy for the Hillhouse girls’ indoor track team to focus on those individual performers.

But both players and coaches know that it takes a team effort to win championships.

That’s the case again this season for the Academics as they take aim on a second straight Southern Connecticut Conference title today at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Davis is poised to repeat in her three events (the 1,000 meters, 1,600, 3,200), Holmes will look to claim the 300 and 600 and Sims has a shot at victory in the 55 hurdles and the long jump.

But the Academics are blessed with several talented underclassmen as well, including freshmen Jaliyah White and Lanaja Carr.
