The showdown between Conard's Gavin Sherry and Xavier's Robbie Cozean certainly did not disappoint as the two battled over hill and dale and left all the spectators in suspense while everything was decided on the finishing slope. Sherry pulled away over the final 50 meters to win by 6 seconds and notch his second 190+ speed rating in a week at 15:38. Cozean gutted out a tough last few meters to finish at 15:44.
Alec Sauter led his champion Tolland team with a 16: 11 for 3rd, Wolcott's Nick Bendtsen was three seconds back in 4th, and Staples' Morgan Fierro was 5th at 16:24. Manchester's Aidan Puffer was 2nd to Sherry in the Division LL race the Saturday before at 15:33, but he did not run at the Open.
The great thing for the top runners is that they will get to repeat everything at Wickham Park for the 3rd time in 14 days as the New England Championship rolls around on November 9th.
