Overview
After finishing 8th last year, LL Division winner Conard behind Gavin and Callum Sherry definitely has the big numbers with a speed rating at Divisions more than 6 points ahead of the next team, M winner Tolland. Despite Gavin Sherry's huge 194 rated race, Conard actually still has a decent enough compression, and that means the rest of the team is well enough up there to take a title.
Though Tolland and LL-2nd place team Staples are a ways back of Conard in the speed ratings, they both have excellent compression numbers, especially Tolland's pack. Either could take the Open title if enough runners finish in the mid to low 160s rated spot and Conard's 5th is again at 159. In addition, Tolland did not need to put the pedal to the metal to win the M race at Divisions, so there could be a lot left in the tank. At the Wickham Park Invite three weeks ago, Tolland's speed rating was up around 172 with an even better compression.
Last year's winner Xavier had the fourth highest speed rating at Divisons while winning the L race but the compression number was huge behind winner Robbie Cozean and the depth would not appear to be there based on the race results. However, last year LL teams Hall and Staples had much better times than Xavier at Divisions and still lost to the X-men by more than 40 at the Open.
