East Lyme boys cross country team return four of their top
five from their ECC championship team and will be favored to win again. They also return defending champion Samuel
Whittaker who also was the Class MM 3200m champion last spring. The Vikings will also be looking to defend
their Class MM title.
Whittaker will be supported by Christopher Abbey, Fisher Macklin and Noah Barnhart who all finished in the top 17 last year but they will be looking to find a fifth man.
Waterford and Bacon Academy return both return a solid pack and should be in the top three.
East Lyme girls lost four of their top seven from last year's ECC championship team to graduation. But that opens a place for last year's runner up, Norwich Free Academy who returns their top four runners. Genevieve Buckridge, Emma Grace Ricketts and Madison Martin were all in the top 20 last year and will be joined by Catie Shannon who was the ECC DI 1600m champion.
Montville's Mady Whittaker will hope to duplicate her cousin's feat of defending her individual title. The senior was 16th at the State Open last year and was ECC 1600m champion last spring.
Linday Orr of Stonington had the fastest 1600m in the conference last spring and is the 2nd returner from last year's ECC cross country championship. Fitch's Julia Adrian was also a Class MM scorer in the 3200m and should be in the mix as well.
