Countdown: No. 12, Hobbs Dominates TJ At Weston

As expected, this was an extremely difficult task. With so many to chose from, we have come up with a list of what we consider the top 20 performances of the outdoor track & field season. We rank them in order, beginning with No. 20 and finishing with No. 1.

Countdown: No. 12, Hobbs Dominates TJ At Weston

St. John Prep senior Nate Hobbs has been one of our most successful leapers the last two years, particularly in the triple jump. Hobbs defended his state crown in this event at the recent All State Meet and matched his runner-up finish from 2017 at the New England Championships on June 9. But the performance that gets the nod here is his victory at the Weston Twilight Invitational in early May. The talented senior captured the event with a PB of 48-0, beating his closest rival by three feet! Over the last decade, that performance ranks No. 3 all-time in Massachusetts. He is just a half a foot behind No. 2, Jordan Samuels of Boston College High, who jumped 48-0.5 to win the All State Meet back in 2013. Ranked No. 1 is Madison Park's Ricardo Jaquite, who won the New Balance Nationals in 2009 with a distance of 49-10.
