Former Maine High School Track & Field Standouts To Compete at Nationals


Division 1 Indoor Track & Field National Championship  Texas A&M

Penn State Junior Isaiah Harris will compete in the 800m, he enters as the sixth fastest with a time 1:47.38. Harris is undefeated on the season at the 800m including his third straight Big Ten Conference Championship. A year ago Harris finished fourth in the indoor championship to earn All-American honors.

Kate Hall a junior for the University of Georgia is the top seed in the long jump. The defending outdoor national champion will be looking to add the indoor title to her resume. Hall's best jump of the season is 6.64m (21-9 1/2) which she did in winning the SEC Conference title. She is undefeated in the long jump this season, and has jumped over 21-5 3/4 in every meet she has competed in this winter.

Hall is also entered in the 60m dash where she has the ninth best time in the country with her 7.22 clocking from the SEC Championship Prelims.


Division 3 Indoor Track & Field National Championship  Birmingham CrossPlex, AL

Emma Egan a sophomore from Williams College is tied for the top seed in the high jump with her 1.72m (5-7 3/4). Egan recorded that mark as part of her pentathlon at the New England D3 Championship. Outdoors Egan won the national title clearing 5-9 1/4, she was the runner-up indoors a year ago as well. She is the fourth seed in the pentathlon with her score of 3461.

Tufts senior Brittany Bowman will compete in the 3k & 5k. Bowman ranks 4th in the 3k (9:40.91) & 7th in the 5k (16:58.08). Bowman finished 8th in the 5k a year ago, and was an All-American in the 10k outdoors last spring, and during the XC this fall. Bowman is also scheduled to run the 1600m leg in the DMR for the Jumbos.

Also Sophia Canning of Dickinson College will compete in the 5k, Canning was the last athlete in the field, she has a best of 17:09.74 on the season.

USM's Adela Kalilwa is the ninth seed in the triple jump with her best effort of 11.75m (38'6 3/4).

Williams senior Liam Simpson is the second ranked runner in the 3k (8:13.70). Simpson dropped a huge personal best at the Tufts last chance qualifier to punch his ticket to nationals

Zachariah Hoyle of the University of Southern Maine is the seventh seed in the 800m. Hoyle is the only freshman in the field comes in with a seed time of 1:51.87.

Bowdoin College senior John Kennealy will run the 800m leg in the Distance Medley Relay. The Polar Bears are the 10th seed (9:53.23).


Division 2 Indoor Track & Field National Championship  Pittsburgh State University, KS

Anna Lastra a sophomore competing for Stonehill will run in the Distance Medley Relay. Stonehill ranks 7th fastest in the event with a 11:39.90 seed time.
