Massachusetts Cross-Country Runners To Watch: Ryan Oosting, Arlington High

Once cross-country finished, it goes without saying that the Spy Ponders' junior had a year to remember in the mid- to long-distance events, culminated by a victory in the 5,000-meter run at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor (NBNO) Championships. With its rapid progression, which included bests of 4:11 for 1,600 meters, 9:05 for two miles and his eye-popping 14:36.13 at NBNO, we're expecting Oosting to not only be considered the favorite for individual supremacy in MA, but possibly on a national scale, either Foot Locker or Nike.

Oosting proved he's certainly capable of a time in the low 15-minute range this fall, possibly faster. With the All State Meet taking place at the Wrentham Developmental Center, a course susceptible to fast times, it's not too far-fetched to predict he'll go under 15 minutes.
