Samantha Andrews

Four individual titles, Class B Championships - May 20

The Lincoln High senior is our most versatile and one of our top field event performers in the state, excelling in all four throwing events. By season's end, she ranked No. 1 in the discus, was No. 2 in the shot and javelin and was fourth best in the hammer.

What we consider her top moment, or shall we say moments, of the outdoor season occurred at the Class B Championships in Westerly. We've talked with a few coaches on this one, and none could recall a day quite like Andrews had at the class meet. The talented Andrews scored nearly 80 percent of her team's points by taking home four gold medals with victories in all four throwing events. She had PR performances in three of her events, tossing the hammer a best of 170-4, the discus a distance of 138-8 and then unleashing a 37-3.5 effort in the shot.
