Several meet records in jeopardy at Bloomfield

Wilbur Cross senior Gabby Curtis has potential to be a double-winner and record-holder at Saturday's Bloomfield Invitational.

With several outstanding athletes scheduled to compete, there's potential for meet records to fall in abundance at the season-opening Bloomfield Invitational on Saturday.

Wilbur Cross senior Gabby Curtis, the recent New England 55-meter hurdle indoor champion and defending 100m outdoor titlist, looks primed to knock off two meet marks. She's the overwhelming favorite in the 100m hurdles with a best of 14.56 seconds, more than a second under the record of 15.60. She's also the top seed in the 300m hurdles where her PB of 43.95 is well under the meet record of 45.47.

Curtis's Wilbur Cross teammate, middle-distance All American Danae Rivers, has potential to break the mile record of 4:57.88. She goes into Saturday's event with a seed time of 4:53.88. Rivers is not entered in the 800m, a race she finished fourth at the New Balance Nationals this past March. The event does feature three runners that have broken 2:20, including No. 1 seed Jillian Mars of host Bloomfield. The record there is 2:22.

The record for the boys' 400m is 49.0. That's a time that both Josh Prell (47.0) and Weaver's Mark Doyley (48.90) have run faster.

Cassidy Palmer of Bloomfield has potential for a record run in the 100m dash where she has a best of 12.11. That's a little more than two tenths of a second faster than anyone has ever done at the Invite.
