Rivers blasts 1:31.20 600m at Armory Track Invite!

Danae Rivers, holder of two Connecticut high school indoor track & field marks, came a few strides away from a third on Saturday afternoon.

In a loaded 600-meter race at the Armory Track Invitational in New York City, Rivers finished second overall to one of the country's best middle-distance runners, Sammy Watson of Rush Henrietta, N.Y., with a time of 1 minute, 31.20 seconds (US #3). Watson finished with a nation best of 1:30.08.

Rivers was less than a half second from the state record of 1:30.79, set by former Hillhouse great Precious Holmes at the New England Championships in 2012.
