R.I. Classic Track and Field Invitational on Dec. 30

At last year's meet, national champion and record-holder Kate Hall of Lake Region, Me., captured the long jump for the second year in a row. She also won the 55-meter dash.


The popular R.I. Classic Track & Field Invitational is approaching fast. The seventh annual meet is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Providence Career and Technical Academy Fieldhouse.

Meet directors Thom Spann and Bob and Anne Rothenberg managed this great event, which attracts top competition from throughout the northeast region. A sanction has been requested for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont, with other states upon request.

This early-season invite features three field event relays, eight running relays, and an invitational 55m, HH, 300m, 800m, Mile, 3,000m, and Freshman Mile as well as a Long Jump, Triple Jump, and Pole Vault.  This year, boys will compete from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., followed by the girls from 1:55 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.
