Memorable Moments of 2015 Outdoor Season: Classic pole-vault duel at State Open

For the next week, MileSplit CT will post what it considers some of the highlights of the outdoor track & field season in the Nutmeg State.

It would be a near impossible task to list all of the great performance by our Connecticut athletes. Believe us, there were many. But we'll try our best to pick out the moments this season that truly stood out.

Rough out-duels Fogarasi, Bergere at State Open

In a classic showdown at Willowbrook Park on June 8, three vaulters matched or exceeded the meet record in the pole vault with Westhill's Chris Rough emerging the winner with a personal-best height of 16-feet even. Windham's Joseph Fogarasi and Daniel Hand's Ian Bergere tied the meet mark by finishing second and third, respectively, with identical clearances of 15-6. Five days later, Fogarasi and Bergere would finish 1-2 in the pole vault at the New England meet, each clearing the bar at 15-9.
