Saucony Elite 50 Individual Girls | Week 3

*Editor's Note: The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 individuals in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).

Sarah Baxter, CA, continues to lead the rankings with her dominate performances this year, but the rest of the top ranks have changed dramatically.  Elise Cranny travelled to the Rocky Mountain Shootout and took down collegiate competition, running a time of 20:39 for 5.8k at altitude, showing that she is for real.  Alexa Efraimson won big at the Nike Pre-National meet in Oregon, and Taylor Werner moves to #4 after a dominate win at the Hancock Invitational.

But perhaps the biggest story is the emergence of freshman Lauren Gregory from Fort Collins, CO.  Lauren has battled the best in Colorado this year and finally came up with a big win over #10 Katie Rainsberger at the Titan Thunder Invite.  Lauren is the real deal, so keep a watch on her as the season progesses.

There are also a few new additions to the rankings with Courntey Smith (Unionville PA) running #2 All-Time at McQuaid in NY, and Anna French (Wayzata MN) leading her team to victory with a close 2nd place finish to #7 Jordyn Colter at the Roy Griak Invite.  Finally, a pair of sophomores made it in after running quite well on Saturday.  Destiny Collins (Great Oak CA) was 3rd fastest at Woodbridge behind Baxter and Williams and Mady Clahane (Cumberland Valley PA) ran 17:28 on a course that Foot Locker champ Aisling Cuffe hadn't broken 18 minutes on and in the process took down 2012 Foot Locker finalist Amelia Paladino (University WV) by 30 seconds.  And Paladino is good this year, running very fast at the Spiked Shoe Invite at Penn State, with the 2nd fastest 5k time on the course.

Makena Morley, Foot Locker finalist from Bigfork, MT, is also in with a big 3 mile time this weekend and Caroline Alcorta, VA, continues her tear of the state, winning big again at Maymont.

Anna Rohrer and Mary Cain have been taken out of the rankings until they toe the line in an XC race this season.

Stay tuned for another exciting week of XC coming this week and of course each week as we bring you the Saucony Elite 50 Individual Girls every Monday morning!
