Marathon Sports Presents: Athlete's of the Week 02/23/13

Emily Dawidczyk   Oxford High School   Senior

The Senior from Oxford High school had an amazing indoor track season. At the MIAA Division 4 Championships a few weeks ago, Dawidczyk scored 28 points by herself. She won the Long Jump and 55 Meter dash, and then missed winning the 55 Meter Hurdles by a fraction of a second to Alley Saccone from Old Rochester. Last weekend at the All State Finals she won both the Long Jump and High Hurdles, scoring 20 points all by herself.  Although colleges such as Stanford, Michigan State, and St. John's were all making a run at the talented Dawidczyk for Track and Field, she has decided to attend Sacared Heart University to play Soccer. She is the All Time leading scorer in Oxford High School history with 88 Goals.

Andrew Bolze    Hingham High School   Junior

A few weeks ago, the Junior from Hingham High School helped lead the Harborman to a Division 3 State Track and Field title. He was victorious in the 300 Meters, second place in the Long Jump, and helped his team finish second in the 4x200 Meter relay. Although he finished first in the 300 Meters, his time would leave him out of the fastest heat for the All State Finals. This might of worked in favor for Boltze, he didn't have to worry about the big race between Newton North's Ryan Lucken and Brian Sommers of Acton-Boxborough. He would concentrate on the basics of Track and Field. He would get out fast, stay mechanically sound, and he would run through the finish line. The results were astounding.  He would not only win the All State title from the unseeded section, but he broke the meet record by running 34.70. That's over a second faster than the previous week.
